PLANS IN LITHUANIA
In Lithuania, the goal is to integrate the innovation ecosystem of the Lithuanian manufacturing sector into the European innovation ecosystem and the DIH network. Advanced Manufacturing Digital Innovation Hub established in 2012 is already providing advisory and training services in the implementation of modern digital technologies in traditional Lithuanian industries. This is especially true for the sectors of digital manufacturing, smart technologies, digital photonics, the big data, industrial Internet, and robotics. This Hub is already recognized as a link of chain of digital innovation hubs being established throughout Europe.
A draft strategic document on the establishment of DIHs in Lithuania has been submitted to the Ministry of Economy. The overall goal of such hubs is to:
- Support the transition of Lithuanian industry (especially SMEs) to high-skilled and high-tech production, to increase the technological readiness, productivity and global competitiveness of Lithuanian engineering industries.
- Familiarise hands-on with the best digitisation practices, their benefits and payback opportunities, and encourage companies to introduce cutting-edge technologies.
